Bio

Christine Carucci received a Bachelor of Music with concentrations in music education and performance from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music in performance from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in music education from the University of Kentucky. In addition, she has received certifications in Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly, First Steps in Music, and Cognitive Coaching. Prior to her work at EKU, she held positions teaching music at St. Cloud State University, University of Minnesota-Morris, and University of Rhode Island. She has also held positions teaching general music and instrumental music in NY, CA, and MA. In addition to teaching, Dr. Carucci has held consultant positions with the Perpich Center for Arts Education and the International Center for Leadership in Education.

Dr. Carucci’s research has been published in the International Journal of Community Music, the Journal of the Interdisciplianry Society for Music and Medicine, and the Ketnucky Journal of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. She has presented her scholarship at national and international conferences in North America, South America, and Europe.

As a bassoonist, Dr. Carucci has performed internationally with a variety of performing ensembles. She continues to play with the EKU Faculty Woodwind quintet, as well as the Kentucky Bach Choir orchestra. She is on faculty of the Stephen Collins Foster Music Camp, the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, and also teaches a studio of successful middle and high school bassoonists.

As an advocate for community music across the lifespan, Dr. Carucci is the founder and former director of the Lexington New Horizons Band, and presently works alongside the Richmond Area Arts Council to offer preschool music classes in the region.
